Apple iPhone 5 / Specification

The iPhone 5 was Apple's 2012 flagship and a landmark redesign. It introduced the Lightning connector — retiring the 30-pin dock used since 2003 — and stretched the screen to a taller 4-inch display, Apple's first step away from 3.5 inches. It was also the first iPhone with LTE.

An aluminium unibody made it thinner (7.6mm) and lighter (112g) than the 4S, and the new A6 chip roughly doubled performance. It keeps a Home button (no Touch ID yet), a 3.5mm jack and an 8MP camera.

It was succeeded by the 5S and 5C in 2013. As a piece of iPhone history — first Lightning, first taller screen, first LTE — the 5 is a notable classic. Launched at about $649.
