The iPhone 12 Pro Max was Apple's 2020 large flagship and the biggest redesign of the line in years. It swapped the 11 Pro Max's rounded sides for flat stainless-steel edges and a Ceramic Shield front, and grew to a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED — the largest, sharpest iPhone display at the time.
It led the iPhone 12 family's move to 5G and introduced MagSafe magnetic charging. Its camera was the generation's best: a 47% larger main sensor with first-ever sensor-shift stabilisation and a longer 65mm 2.5x telephoto, plus a LiDAR scanner, all on the A14 Bionic.
The trade-off was endurance — the slim body's 3687mAh cell and 60Hz screen trail the 13 Pro Max that followed (which added 120Hz ProMotion and a far bigger battery). Still a strong used pick for the design and camera. From about $1,099.
