The iPhone 14 Pro Max was Apple's 2022 large flagship and the debut of the Dynamic Island — the interactive pill that replaced the notch and reshaped the front of the iPhone. It also brought the first always-on display and the first 48MP main camera, a jump from the 12MP sensors of every prior Pro Max.
The 6.7-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED now dims to 1Hz for always-on and pushes to 2000 nits outdoors, all driven by the A16 Bionic. Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite arrived too, and the 48MP sensor enables a sharp 2x crop alongside the 3x telephoto.
It was the last Pro Max with a stainless-steel frame and a Lightning port — the 15 Pro Max that followed switched to lighter titanium and USB-C. For the Dynamic Island and 48MP camera without the latest price, it is a strong used flagship. From about $1,099.
