It switched from Lightning to USB-C (at USB 2.0 speeds), gained brighter 2000-nit peak output, and runs on the A16 Bionic handed down from the 14 Pro. Contoured edges and a frosted colour-infused back round out the redesign.

It stays at 60Hz, and the USB-C port is the slower USB 2.0 (vs USB 3 on the Pro). The 16 that followed added the Action button and an A18 chip. For Dynamic Island, USB-C and a 48MP camera at a lower used price, the 15 is the value pick of the modern base models. From about $799.
